Career Academy South Bend

Introduction to Engineering/Manufacturing (IEM)
Digital Media

IEM is the Freshman gateway class to several tracks the students can specialize in; Engineering, Computer Science, Welding, and Advanced Manufacturing. This intro class gives a buffet-style taste of each discipline before committing to one.

Intro to Computer Science

After a brief history of Computers and Technology, students learn the components of a computer and the basics of coding. The class culminates in coding a few small video games in Unity.

Film Club

The Film Club is a group of ambitious teens that want to hone their video production skills by making short films and writing scripts. They also compete in the 48 Hour Film Project each year.

Students learn hands-on all aspects of TV, Radio, Film, basics of Photoshop, After Effects, Portfolio creation, and web authoring.

Robotics Team

Team 5484, The Wolf Pack, is a high school FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team that competes at the national level. Students design and build a robot from scratch in only six weeks and compete in an intense game against other world-class bots.

Maker Club

Career Academy has lots of cool equipment under one roof- from 3D printers to CNC Routers, lathes, lasers, welding bays, and two shops full of tools. The Maker Club is a way students can invent, innovate, create, and have fun making things outside of coursework.
